AffirmWater Bottles are made from 18/8 (#304) food-grade stainless steel.
Stainless steel is recognized as one of the safest choices
for water bottles because there is no leaching.
Aluminum
is a metal from metal refineries and mining operations. Potential health impacts associated with
Aluminum include cardiovascular or blood toxicity, neurotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, and respiratory toxicity.
Because of these problems, aluminum bottles are sometimes
lined with a plastic or epoxy to make sure the liquid doesn’t come into contact with the aluminum.
Concerns have arisen about a chemical call “Bisphenol
A” or BPA which is a component of the lining. BPA is linked to disrupting hormone functioning, altering
genes and interfering with normal physical and behavioral development.
Over
time the lining can crack or wear off with continued cleaning, causing exposure to chemicals such as BPA and aluminum which
is why aluminum bottles are generally NOT dishwasher safe.
The
environmental impact from aluminum ranges from the extraction to processing. The major environmental impact
of refining and smelting is green house gas emissions.
Stainless
Steel provides a safe, durable, lightweight, hygienic, environmentally friendly, cost-effective, dishwasher safe alternative
to aluminum and plastic water bottles.
